This is my gallery of watercolor paintings of Venice, Italy. I love painting Venice, it is full of history and atmosphere. The old buildings and narrow streets and canals are full of atmosphere and texture – a watercolor artists delight! The earth water colors are particularly suited to paintings of Venice.
Venice has lots of narrow canals, that are rarely parallel, often varying their width a number of times along their length. They also quite commonly follow curved paths. This makes drawing them more challenging but at the same time gives the place a lot of character. It is also quite common to have a number of canals, and streets for that matter, converging at an intersection.
